What is Found in The Syllabus Navigation Tab?

The syllabus tab is a location in your canvas course where students can find information from the syllabus. Instructors may do this in a variety of ways. Instructors might:

  • Put a pdf or word doc version of the syllabus in the tab for you to download and print.
  • Embed pages/links into this page that give you the important information needed for the course (i.e. accommodations, course resources, class policies, etc.
  • Copy and paste their syllabus into this page.
  • A combination of any of the above.

What Information Will You Find in a Syllabus?

Syllabi in your courses will more than likely look different. Even though they often look different, there is common information you should find in your syllabus. The most common information found in a syllabus is:

  • instructor information
  • course description
  • course objectives
  • textbook and technology requirements
  • overview of assignments
  • grading scale
  • grading policies (late work, extra credit, make-ups, etc.)
  • schedule
  • accommodations statement
  • campus resources
