Overview

Note for instructors: Set clear expectations for the logistics of the exam, including available dates, due dates, number of attempts allowed, and amount of time available. In addition, share with them what the quiz is over and which course objectives the quiz relates to if applicable.

In this exam, we are covering chapters 1-4. This exam will assess you over the following course objectives

  1. List objective here
  2. List objective here

This quiz contains 20 multiple choice questions and 6 short answer questions. This exam will open at midnight on BLANK and will close at 11:55pm on BLANK. You will have 60 minutes to complete this quiz and can complete it one time. Make sure that one you start the quiz, you finish it. You will not be able to leave the quiz and then return.

Format

Note for instructors: Explain the format of the exam, including how it factors into students' course grades (number of points, how it is weighted into the overall course grade). If you have divided the test into multiple parts, be sure to differentiate between them. It can be helpful to provide recommendations to help students manage their time.

This exam is worth 50 points; multiple choice questions are worth 1 point each and short answer questions are worth 5 points each. All questions will be listed on different pages; I recommend using the navigation bar in the upper right hand corner of the quiz to go back to questions you may want to look back over.

Please note that you will not receive your exam grade until after your instructor goes in and grades your exam. Your exam grade will be hidden until after all exams have been graded.

Expectations

The goal is to set clear expectations about whether the exam will be open book or closed book. Consider the many sources that students might consult and clearly distinguish between those that are approved for use during the exam and those that aren't.

You are allowed to consult the following resources while taking this exam:

  • Your own notes for this course
  • The assigned course readings

You are restricted from consulting the following resources:

  • The Internet
  • Other students' notes
  • Any other person, in this class or not
  • Any other source that was not provided as part of the course materials

Although the test allows you to consult your own notes and resources from the class, please note the following:

  • The exam will not test on your recall of simple facts, but rather, your ability to apply course concepts in new contexts. Thus, the value of accessing your notes and readings will be limited. Study for this exam accordingly, as if you were taking it in class.
  • Should any of your answers appear to have come directly from our readings, the internet, or other sources, or should your answers mirror someone's else's, you will be docked points accordingly for those questions.
