How many points is the exam worth? What will the exam consist of?

Give your students details about how many points the exam is worth and how many questions it is out of. We also recommend telling them what type of questions they will encounter on the exam.

How much time do I have on the exam? How many times can I take the exam?

Be clear with how long they have to take the exam and how many times they can take the exam. Don't forget to remind them of how exams are set up (ex: if they can get back into the exam once leaving)

What do I need for the exam? Is there a special download?

Let students know what they need for an exam, especially if using LockDown Browser for your exam. You can also let them know what resources will be available for them (calculator, scratch paper, etc.) and what they can use on the exam.

In order to complete this exam, you will need to install LockDown Browser onto your computer. You will be able to access and download this platform by clicking on the "LockDown Browser" button in the navigation bar on the left-hand side of our Canvas course. For help with downloading LockDown Browser, feel free to use this Start Guide and watch the video to the right. You will want to make sure you install Lockdown Browser onto your computer prior to taking the exam.

Please complete the LOCKDOWN BROWSER PRACTICE EXAM to ensure that it is downloaded properly and working correctly. Please note, in order to use Lockdown Browser, your computer must have a functioning webcam, microphone, and broadband connection. If you do not have a webcam or a laptop computer, you may check one out from the University. Please refer to the instructions here.

What if I am having problems while taking my exam?

Consider sharing what they can do if they are struggling on the exam or have problems. This can alleviate stress for the student by planning ahead.

You will not be able to reach me during the exam using LockDown Browser. Make sure you have all your questions answered BEFORE you start your exam.
If you experience technical issues during testing, you will need to email me as soon as you leave the exam. I will be checking the time stamps on your exam to ensure you emailed me as soon as possible. If I do not receive an email, or it is not received timely, your grade will stand as is.

Academic Integrity

If important to you, consider adding in an academic integrity reminder for your students.

Please note, that by submitting your Exam #1 in Canvas, you are pledging that you have not cheated on this exam. As a reminder, cheating includes:

working with others, sharing information about the exam, and receiving help from others.
using any materials to assist you in completing this exam, such as books, notes, internet sources, etc.
taking any pictures, screenshots, or other copying of the exam content.
