The resources you find in Canvas Design Studio are here for you to use in your own courses. In order to use the content in your own course, you will want to

Download and modify the syllabi and other documents (and then upload it into your own course)
Import templates from Canvas Commons.

Canvas Commons

Canvas Commons is a repository that allows educators to find, import and share resources. You can access commons from the global navigation bar on the lefthand side of your screen. Throughout this course, there will be several areas where faculty will be able to access a template from Canvas Commons; to locate Canvas Design Studio templates in the Commons, open Canvas Commons and search for the name given. For instance, to download the Canvas Design Studio Template, open Commons and search "Canvas Design Studio" and the template will appear (see image below for more examples of what you can find from this course in Canvas Commons. How These Templates Will Help

The templates have been designed by experienced instructional designers at UNO using evidence-based online standards. They are intended to help you design your course in a way that leads to effective online instruction and delivery of material. Using these templates will allow you to focus on the content of the course and less on the structure of the course. Feel free to choose one you like and copy it into your course, or use it as a starting point and make it your own. There are many ways to teach; please feel free to adapt them to include what is helpful for your students and to match your teaching approach.

Steps to Download Templates

From the global navigation, click the Commons icon.
Once you are in Commons, type in 'Canvas Design Studio'
Select the item you want to download or import
Select Import/Download on the right-hand side of your screen
Select the course you wish to import to from the sidebar menu on the right. You can import to multiple courses at once.
Click Import into course at the bottom of this list. You now have full control to edit and customize the course template to fit your needs.

Please note: All templates need to be edited for the specifics of your course and/or assignment. If the template comes with a Notes for Instructors section, make sure to delete it when you are done personalizing it to your own course.
